Cookie Policy
Effective Date: 15th July 2026 · Version 1.0
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Afripods uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on https://afripods.africa/ and our mobile applications (the "Platform"), and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Section 10, which sets out the legal basis and consent framework for this processing.
"Cookies" are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies are useful because they allow Afripods and our partners to uniquely recognise your device. They also help support the continuity of your experience. For example, cookies can help us to understand your preferences or remember your past actions.
2. Categories of cookies we use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are required for the Platform to function for example, keeping you logged in and remembering your cookie preferences. They do not require your consent and cannot be switched off through the cookie banner, though you can block them through your browser settings at the risk of the Platform not working correctly.
2.2 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how Users interact with the Platform, so we can improve it. They require your consent before they load. We currently use:
- Microsoft Clarity; behavioral analytics including heatmaps and session-replay recordings of website interactions.
- Google Analytics; general usage and traffic analytics.
2.3 Advertising Cookies
Afripods does not currently use an advertising or retargeting cookie provider. If we introduce one in the future, this Policy will be updated to name it, a dedicated advertising category with its own consent toggle will be added to the cookie banner, and existing Users will be asked for fresh consent before any such cookie loads.
3. Cookies in use
| Provider | Category | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Afripods (first-party) | Strictly necessary | Session authentication / login state |
| Afripods (first-party) | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie consent preferences |
| Microsoft Clarity | Analytics | Heatmaps and session-replay analytics |
| Google Analytics | Analytics | Usage and traffic analytics |
4. How we obtain and manage your consent
When you visit the Platform, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies by category. Consent choices are recorded in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Section 9, including the date and Policy version in force at the time.
5. Browser-level controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings, and mobile operating systems let you limit app tracking permissions. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the Platform from working correctly. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect the Platform's core functionality.
6. Third-party cookie providers
Our analytics providers operate their own privacy and cookie practices, which we do not control:
- Microsoft Clarity; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement for details of Microsoft's own data practices.
- Google Analytics; see Google's Privacy Policy for details of Google's own data practices.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy as we add, remove, or change the cookies and trackers we use including if we introduce an advertising cookie provider, as described in Section 2.3. Material changes will be reflected here and, where required, we will ask for fresh consent.
8. Contact us
Questions about this Policy can be sent to contactus@afripods.com or to our Data Protection Officer as set out in our Privacy Policy, Section 21.
